DESCRIPTION: The Information Technology Division (ITD) of the University of Maryland Libraries is looking for a team leader with an enthusiasm for providing services via the Web to a large community of students and scholars. We are the flagship campus in the state of Maryland. Responsibilities: The Digital Technology and Interface Services (DTIS) Manager leads and manages a team that is responsible for designing and administering the UM Libraries’ Web site, integrating user-centered design into the web development process, designing and supporting systems for discovery, and providing secure user authentication systems for Web-based services. Among these interfaces are the Libraries' Web site, gateways to licensed resources, the catalog, link resolver, and other discovery tools. DTIS also plays a role in the design and support of Web services for a consortium of 16 libraries at Maryland public universities. Working collaboratively with university, library and consortial colleagues, DTIS provides expertise to deliver services in support of teaching, learning and research. The position requires a strong customer service attitude, collaborative approach to work, creative problem solving, continuous learning, and a commitment to diversity in the workplace. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree is required. Also, 5+ Years progressively responsible experience in Web technologies, demonstrated understanding of user-centered design, experience planning, implementing, and managing Web projects, ability to learn and apply new technologies,excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Two years experience as an IT manager is desired, as is an awareness of national trends in IT relating to higher education, successful experience in creating and managing organizational change, experience implementing a content management system, and experience in library-specific technologies.
