The Library seeks an energetic, creative and outgoing individual to lead and manage the Library’s information technologies and digital projects and to play a lead role in support of digital initiatives across campus. The Head of Digital Library Services will, in coordination with the Library’s strategic plan, establish goals and priorities for the department. The Head of DLS is a member of the Library Management Team (composed of the Library Director and other Department Heads), the Library’s body for policy formulation, strategic planning, and management of operations.
Requirements:
- ALA-accredited MLS
- Five years professional experience in a digital project management
- Experience digitizing film, video and sound recordings
- Knowledge of XML, CSS and other web technologies
- Demonstrable knowledge of metadata standards and digital archiving practices and preservation.
- Knowledge of and experience working in networks and technology infrastructures
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support staff
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Budgetary experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a culturally rich and diverse college environment.

DESCRIPTION: Surveys and analyzes public needs and demands in order to assess and select print and non-print materials for the library. Checks in, organizes, distributes and inventories items for special collections such as federal documents, state documents, vertical files and microfiche. Administers and monitors a portion of the book budget. May conduct library tours, story hours, internet classes and special workshops. Plans, coordinates and implements special library programs. Analyzes research problems, interprets and evaluates the data in order to make recommendations for further research. Supervises staff and is responsible for building, contents and function of library on nights, weekends and other designated times. Works public reference desk and oversees library computer lab for a portion of each work day.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an MLS degree and at least one year of experience in library operations. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license or a valid driver’s license from state of residency. DESIRED: At least one year of experience in a public library reference department is preferred. The successful candidate will assist the Dean in planning for all aspects of Library technology and will participate in information literacy instruction and individual patron research assistance.
