Contracting for Content in a Digital World
Friday, June 23, 2006, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
This preconference explores the forces and competing interests impacting contracts and licenses between libraries and their business partners. Eminent panelists representing diverse perspectives will air difficult issues, e.g., rights of content owners vs. users; licensing standardization; pricing; and more. Discussion will address digital content contracted both by and from libraries; and consider the forces at work in Congress, the courts, and international bodies that influence contracts for digital content. The program promises to shed new light on issues facing libraries, publishers and aggregators and foster improved understanding.
